Maysville Autumn Leaf Festival Draws Hundreds

MADDOX AWARDS QUEEN...Lt. Gov. Lester Maddox presents the queen's trophy to Elizabeth Ann Boswell of Maysville.

KING AND QUEEN...Queen Elizabeth Ann Boswell and King Terry Elrod reign over the Festival.

HIGH SCHOOL ART...Here are some of the paintings on display at the festival done by students of Jefferson and Commerce High Schools.

LIKE IT USED TO BE...Covered wagons, stage coaches and horseback once again travel the paved streets of Maysville.

GETTING INTO IT...A young artist tries her hand during the festival.

PLANT DISPLAY...Mrs. Catherine Haley of the Sandy Cross community and her two daughters watch as the parade passes their exhibit of herbs.

IMPORTANT THREESOME...(L to R) Festival chairman Elbert Mabry, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin and State Representative Sam Nunn lead the parade.

GOOD EATING...The Maysville Volunteer Fire Dept. cooks and serves barbecue for the festival-goers.

WOOD CRAFTS DISPLAY...These booths feature a variety of wood carved pieces such as foot stools, plaques and jewelry.

DRAWING EXHIBIT...Debby, Linda and Barbara Farrell put their charcoal drawings up for sale at the festival.

OOPS!  DOWN AGAIN...The space balloon is one of several amusements at the festival.
