History of Maysville Baptist Church taken from Sarepta Baptist Association records:

The Maysville Baptist Church was organized in 1878.  In 1892 (sic, 1882), the congregation built a frame structure where the present church parking lot is today.

In 1878 the Maysville Baptist Church was organized, with the following ministers present: Rev. Wilks of Gainesville, Rev. Charles Campbell of Athens, Dr. Van Hoose of Gainesville.  Rev. D. J. Short united with the church after it was organized, and was soon afterwards ordained as a minister.  The church has been blessed in its pastoral leadership by some of our outstanding Georgia pastors: Rev. H. R. Bernard, the first pastor, who gave the land upon which the church building was constructed, served for one year; Rev. W. S. McCarty, two years; Rev. W. M. Coile, one year; Rev. Robert Hawkins, four years; Rev. Sam Hood, one year; Rev. Charlie Brown, four years; Dr. O. P. Gilbert, one year; Dr. T. W. O’Kelley, two years; Dr. Frank O’Kelley, one year; Rev. J. J. Kimsey, two years; Dr. John D. Mell, one year; Rev. Lewis Henderson, seven years; Rev. George C. Steed, two years; Rev. C. W. Henderson, one year; Rev. T. C. Hardman, one year; Rev. S. J. Baker, two years; Dr. W. H. Wrighton, one year; Rev. Bullen, one year; Rev. Bunyan Collins, one year; Rev. Gower Latimer, three years; Rev. A. E. Logan, eight years; Rev. Lee Buice, two years; Rev. S. B. Wingfield; Rev. Joe Parham; Rev. George Dollar; Rev. D. C. Williams; Rev. Robert Scruton; Rev. Homer K. Albright; Rev. Theron Miller; Rev. Bryan Edwards; Rev. Calvin Berry; Rev. Hampton Crosby; Rev. Herman Purcell; Rev. Ben Glosson; Rev. Edward Samples, Jr.; Rev. Robert Watson; Rev. Jay Sutton.

The charter membership of the present organization consisted of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Atkins, Mrs. J. B. Hill, W. M. Lyle, Mr. and Mrs. James Lyle, George Seville, Mrs. Amanda Sims, and Mr. and Mrs. J. T. White.

As the church has been favored by some of our finest preachers to serve as pastors, it has also been wonderfully blessed in having a fine list of Sunday school superintendents, and has always manifested keen interest in teaching the word of God through the Bible School as an agency.  The following superintendents are listed in the history of the church: Hugh Atkins, Charlie Evans, Robert Cheney, Lacy Christian, AG Boyd, T. F. Parks, W. M. Yeargin, Rogers Cooley, Albert Arial and M. L. Payne (through 1942).
