Thyatira Church The people and pastor of Thyatira
Presbyterian church want to sincerely thank the people of Jefferson and of
the surrounding country, for their exceeding kindness in giving such
generous aid to help repair Thyatira church building. The new and
handsome roof is on, and it looks so nice that we feel that we must paint it
to have all things in keeping--one with the other. We heartily thank
the people of the country and of the town; also the contractor who ordered
material and gave liberally; also the Cortright Roofing Co.
Dry Pond Church The church here is one of the largest and most comfortable houses of worship in North Georgia, but the membership has been hindered from aggressive work for three years because of a rather heavy debt. Rev. J. D. Turner planned to lift the debt on the fifth Sunday in May. His people were in full sympathy with him in this effort, so, after the morning sermon a collection was taken and pledges were made that will lift the burden and turn the church loose for a forward move along all lines. Dry Pond is in the midst of one of the best farming sections in Georgia. The people are neither rich nor poor, but have a plenty and make it themselves, and are blessed with the true spirit of country hospitality. Rev. Jeff D. Turner, their pastor, is a southern gentleman with sense, industry and religion, whose ministry is a benediction to whatever charge he serves. Dry Pond church is on the Maysville circuit, and the charge will make a good report at Gainesville. --Wesleyan Christian Advocate |
