March 1927

Exchanged from The Maysville Herald and printed in The Jackson Herald in March 1921:

The many friends here of Mr. J. D. Cox, our former citizen, who is now making his home in Jefferson with his daughter, Mrs. W. P. Thompson, are glad to see him on our streets for a few days this week mingling with old friends.  He was the guest of his brother-in-law, Mr. J. M. Ellison, and other relatives and friends while here.

The second Quarterly Conference of the Maysville Circuit for 1921 will convene at Holly Springs church, Saturday, April 9th, at 11 o’clock eastern time.  Rev. W. L. Pierce, Presiding Elder, will preach at the morning service.  There will, no doubt, be a large congregation present to hear Dr. Pierce, who is a strong and interesting preacher.  Dinner will be served on the church grounds for everybody present; and the Holly Springs people are anxious that a large number accept and enjoy their hospitality.

Two Sons of Croff Burns Making Good Financially

The many relatives and friends of Mr. Crawford Burns, of Maysville, will be interested in the following, which we copy from a recent issue of The Macon News:  Hubert M. & Henry K. Burns, well known Macon men, have arrived in Macon, from Birmingham, and will begin the manufacture of Georgia Cane Syrup in Macon within the next thirty days.  The plant will represent an investment of over $100,000 and will be one of the most complete in the South.

Claud Williams Buys Large Tifton Bakery

The following item clipped from The Tifton Gazette will be of interest to the many friends here of Mr. Claud Williams, who was formerly a resident of this city.  Announcement is made today of the baker on Main street, formerly known as the Sanitary System of Bakeries.  Under the new management the establishment will be known as the Tifton Bakery.  The bakery equipment was bought by Williams Bros. Co., Inc.
