The Maysville Chronicle began printing in May of 1985. Originally intended to be a quarterly publication, only five editions were printed. The first edition promoted a festival organized to raise money for a new gym for Maysville Elementary School. Issues were one dollar each. Todd Dorsey was the editor and publisher.
