The William Jenkins Comer House is located at 40 Homer Street in the Maysville Historic District.  "Jenks" Comer (1847-1910) was a Maysville merchant closely related to the Comer Family that Comer, Georgia is named for.  Comer Street in Maysville is named in his honor.

The home was recently purchased by Greg and Kelly Fears.  The original part of the home was a narrow two-story structure very similar to the Charlie Carr House at 31 Homer Street.  Over the years the house had been enlarged with an addition.  For the remodel, Mr. Fears decided to demolish the addition leaving only the original portion of the house.  He then added an entirely new addition to the house resulting in an expansive 5400-square foot structure.  The original downstairs portion of the home will include a guest bedroom and living room.  The original upstairs area will include a bedroom, bath and walk-in closets.  The addition downstairs adds an entertainment room, utility room, expansive kitchen, and library.  The upstairs addition includes a master bed and bath with walk-in shower.  The downstairs foyer area is larger than normal and will certainly prove to impress the visitor upon initial entry into the home.

Mr. Fears is doing much of the renovation and building himself and hopes that his family will be in the home by Christmas 2005.
