Mrs. James Porterfield
Died, on last Monday night, Mrs. Porterfield, wife of James Porterfield, of this place.  It will be remembered that her sister, Mrs. Ben Watkins, departed this life only a few short weeks ago.  It is quite a shock to the aged mother.  Mr. Porterfield’s other wife died just something over two years ago.  We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved husband and friends.

Rebecca Watkins
It is with sadness we write of the death of a dear friend and cousin, Mrs. Rebecca Watkins, wife of B. M. Watkins.  She died in Maysville, where she had gone on a visit, and was never able to return to her home in the country.
Dear cousin—her sufferings are over; it gladdens our hearts to know that she is at rest, and done with the sufferings and trials of this world.  No one could have borne their afflictions more patiently than Beckie did.  She never uttered a word of complaint.  We know that all was done for her that could be done by the physicians.  She was a daughter of Uncle Shade and Aunt Annie Dean, of
Jackson County.  She was born Nov. 6, 1851, and had been a member of the church since she was 13 years old; first joined the Baptist Church, and after she married, joined the Methodist church her husband belonged to.  She was gentle, pious and loved by all who knew her.  She told her friends she was ready and willing to go at God’s call….  Bessie Anderson
