David McCalla
FAYETTEVILLE - David Stovall McCalla Jr., 78, a former Maysville resident, died Friday, December 31, 1999.  Mr. McCalla was reared in Maysville and attended Maysville High School.  Funeral services were held Monday, January 3, 2000, at Inman United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dale Weldon, Doug Burrell and Dr. David Campbell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John and Monica McCalla, Tyrone, and Paul and Sherri McCalla, Senoia; one brother, Charles R. McCalla, Huntsville, Ala.; one sister, Ruby M. Stephens, Decatur; five grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  Carl J. Mowell & Son, Fayetteville, was in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Crane
Bobby T. Crane, 62, of Maysville, died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.  A native of Maysville, Mr. Crane was born October 28, 1936. He was a son of the late Jim and Ella Mae Presley Crane.   Mr. Crane was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Westinghouse-ABB, with 32 years of service.  Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with David C. Roberts and the Rev. Mike Stowers officiating. Burial was in the Lebanon Methodist Church cemetery, Gillsville. Tim Crane, Willard Cartledge, Dozier Stevens, Royce Smith, Wiliam Garrish, Chip McClure, Lamar Presley and Lanier Poe served as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Buffington Crane; one son, Doug Crane, Maysville; two daughters, Gretta Sanders, Commerce, and Mrs. Sandy (Carolyn) Spurlock, Athens; three brothers, Edgar Crane, Nevada, and Howard Crane and Jimmy Crane, both of Maysville; four sisters, Margie Drake, Bernice Edwards and Mrs. Bennie (Gladys) Etris, all of Maysville, and Eva Allen, Atlanta; four grandchildren, Derek, Kayla, Eli and Jake; and two step-grandchildren, Bonny and Susan.  Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Nellie Highfield
Nellie Kent Highfield, 86, of 104 Georgia Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999.   A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Highfield was a daughter of the late Lou Wiley Kent and M.E. Kent and was the widow of Ernest W. "Bill" Highfield. She was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Highfield. She was a homemaker and was a member of Unity Christian Church.  Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Unity Christian Church, with the Revs. Dennis Harris and Bill Manus officiating. Burial will be in Unity Christian Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Frances Highfield and Margaret Highfield, both of Maysville, Betty Shoufler, Pendergrass, Dianne Sims, Gillsville, and Brenda Wilson, Commerce; two sons, Billy Highfield, Gainesville, and Cecil Highfield, Winder; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.   The family is at the residence.   Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to Unity Christian Church Building Fund, 70 Church Circle, Maysville, GA 30558.

Betty Ann Crane
Betty Ann Crane, 55, of 7 N. Main St., Maysville, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999. A native of Commerce, Mrs. Crane was the daughter of the late Columbus Hicks and Mattie Dover Hicks. Services will bet at 1 p.m. Friday at Flowery Branch Congregation Holiness Church with Revs. James Woods and Sara Pearson officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Park, Commerce.
Survivors include her husband, Mitchell Crane; a daughter, Dianne Watson, Gainesville; a son, Jimmy Peck, Nicholson; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Bryant, Hoschton; three stepsons, Dean Crane, Palatka, Fla., Greg Crane and Mark Crane, both of Maysville; a brother, George Hicks, Gainesville; four sisters, Patricia Grindle and Lucille Stowe, both of Gainesville, Dorothy Wright, Maysville, and Kathleen Wright, Jefferson; and 11 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce.
