Vivian Presley
Vivian Ariail Presley, 77, of 8723 Maysville Road died Thursday, Dec. 21,
2000. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Presley was a daughter of the late
Hattie Strange Ariail Reynolds and Omer Ariail and was the widow of Robert
L. ''Bob'' Presley. She was a homemaker and was a member of Maysville
Baptist Church. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Maysville Baptist
Church with the Rev. Brian Stowe officiating. The body will be placed in
the church at 3 p.m.
Survivors include three sons, Lamar Presley, Larry Presley and Richard
Presley, all of Maysville; and two sisters, Mary Jones, Leslie, and
Revelle Massey, Commerce; six grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren. The family is at the residence. Little-Ward Funeral
Home, Commerce, has charge of arrangements.

Perino
Boswell
John Perino Boswell, 79, of 210 Church St. died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000.
A native of Banks County, Mr. Boswell was a son of the late Charles and
Zora Bryant Boswell. He was preceded in death by a son, Herman Boswell. He
was retired as police chief of Maysville and was a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II. He was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church and Georgia
Peace Officers Association. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Donald Tritt and David
Bowen officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae Carroll Boswell; two daughters, Martha
Lewis, Maysville, and Joyce Wilson, Alto; four sons, John Boswell, Norman
Boswell and Otis Boswell, all of Maysville, and L. Glynn Boswell,
Commerce; four sisters, Mollie Blackwell, Homer, Laura Livingston, East
Point, Willie Sears and Georgialeen Thurmond, both of Maysville; five
brothers, Bryan Boswell, Carnesville, Charles Boswell, Fairmont, George
Boswell, Commerce, Glynn Boswell and Journey R. Boswell, both of
Maysville; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. The family is at
the residence.

Joyce
Carver
Joyce Eleanor Lombardo Carver, 52, of 5 S. Main St. died Friday, Dec. 1,
2000. A native of Burlington County, N.J., Mrs. Carver was a daughter of
Gloria Pesaresi Lombardo, Seminole, Fla., and the late Alexander Frank
Lombardo. She was employed in food services at Chateau Elan, was past
president of Seminole Garden Club and vice president of Maysville
Community Club. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Little-Ward Funeral
Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Jeff Appling officiating. Burial will be in
Sunrise Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include three sons, Jason Carver,
Nicholas Vizaro and Victor Vizaro, all of Seminole; a sister, Gloria Gene
Carolson, Jefferson; two brothers, Alex Lombardo, Seminole, and Tim
Lombardo, Jefferson; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
nieces and a nephew.

Herman McClure
Herman Burton McClure, 73, of 31 Comer St. died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000. A
native of White County, Mr. McClure was a son of the late Walter and
Myrtle Johnson McClure. He was a road construction worker, was a member of
Oconee Baptist Church and attended Victory Baptist Church. Services will
be at 2 p.m. today at Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev.
Swayne Cochran and Chaplain Larry Davidson officiating. Burial will be in
Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Vivian Cochran McClure; three sons, Mark
McClure, Monroe, Mike McClure, Maysville, and Stephen David McClure,
Matthews, N .C.; two sisters, Mary Hayes and Fay Lindsey, both of
Maysville; four brothers, Howard McClure, Homer, Lloyd McClure, Jefferson,
Ray McClure, Maysville, and Roy McClure, Easley, S.C.; four grandchildren;
and a great-grandchild. The family is at the residence.

Edna Cochran
Edna Sue Weldon Cochran, 68, of 65 W. Ridgeway Road died Thursday, Oct. 5,
2000. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Cochran was a daughter of the late
Linton Newton and Ethel Gregory Weldon and was the widow of Cecil Cochran.
She was employed by B-J-C Nursing Home, was retired as a Banks County
school bus driver and was a member of Maysville Baptist Church. Services
will be at 11 a.m. today at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill
Manus and Swayne Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery,
Maysville.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Payne, Homer; four sons, Al Cochran,
David Cochran and Ronnie Cochran, all of Maysville, and Tim Cochran,
Crawford; a sister, Ruth Brock, Gillsville; a brother, William Lonnie
Weldon, Jefferson; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ray Everette Burns
Ray Everette Burns, 59, of 20 Crane St. died Wednesday, Sept.
13, 2000. Mr. Burns was a son of Betty Acree, Arcade. He was a
construction worker. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ivie Funeral
Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Paul Fields officiating.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Linda F. Burns,
two daughters, Becky Burns, Maysville, and Sally Miller, Gainesville; and
two brothers, James Burns and Shorty Burns, both of Panama City, Fla.

Donnie Jacks
Donnie Ray Jacks, 36, of 60-A Homer Road died Wednesday, Sept.
13, 2000. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Jacks was a son of Melvin Jacks,
Homer, and Karen Swedberg Jacks, Maysville. He was employed by Hewell's
Pottery and was a member and deacon of Maysville Baptist Church. Services
will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Maysville Baptist Church with the Revs.
Brian Stowe, Pat Davidson and Vaughn Howington officiating. Burial will be
in Sunrise Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Judy Crowe Jacks;
a daughter, Shannon Bougher, Nicholson; a son, Clint Jacks, Maysville; two
sisters, Nikkie Jacks, Homer, and Lisa Marlowe, Jefferson; his
grandmother, Lucille Jacks, Maysville; and his stepmother, Verdina Jacks,
Homer. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Little-Ward
Funeral Home, Commerce.

Barney Griffin
The Rev. Barney Griffin, 55, of 12-B Comer St. died Sunday,
June 11, 2000. A native of Banks County, Mr. Griffin was a son of Eva
Redmon Griffin, Maysville, and the late late Barnell Griffin. He was a
minister at Maysville Baptist Church and pastored churches in Banks,
Jackson and Franklin Counties. He attended Fort Wayne Bible College and
Toccoa Falls Bible College. He was founder and pastor of Temple Baptist
Church, Homer. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Grove Level Baptist
Church with the Revs. Jeff Appling, Gerald Mitton and Brian Stowe
officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Donna Cox Griffin;
five daughters, Cynthia Bartow, Angela Mason, Rebecca Plemmons and Teresa
Yale, all of Asheville, N.C., and Elizabeth Wilson, Pendergrass; two sons,
Jeremy Griffin and Matthew Griffin, both of Maysville; three sisters,
Wilma Abney, Kennesaw, Martha Cotton, Homer, and Joyce Griffin, Smyrna;
three brothers, Billy Griffin and Bobby Griffin, both of Athens, and Jerry
Griffin, Oakwood; 10 grandchildren. Little-Ward Funeral Home has charge of

Dorothy Saville
Dorothy Mae Lewis Saville, 80, of 185 Cross St., died Tuesday,
May 30, 2000. A native of Washington, N.Y., Mrs. Saville was a daughter of
the late John and Maude Brown Lewis and was the widow of Ernest William
Saville. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and the National
Grange Association. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Little-Ward
Funeral Home with the Rev. Swayne Carlan officiating. Burial will be in
Jackson Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Howe, Maysville, and Frances Cadotte,
Columbia, S.C.; a son, Daniel Saville, Maysville; a sister, Elizabeth
Hall, South Glenns Falls, N.Y.; three brothers, John Lewis, Argyle, N.Y.,
Richard Lewis and Elrik Lewis, both of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; eight
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive
friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dennis Hill
Dennis Hill, 51, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at BJC Medical
Center, Commerce. Mr. Hill was born August 14, 1948, in Hall County. He
was a son of Mary Frances Martin Hill, Maysville, and the late Don L.
Hill. Mr. Hill was self-employed in maintenance and was of the Baptist
denomination. Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, in the chapel of
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Brian Stowe officiating.
Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville. David Reynolds, Ben Hopkins,
William Austin, James Scroggs, Eddie Pruitt, Emory Merk and Larry Presley
served as pallbearers.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one daughter, Sharon Denise
Hill, Gainesville; and one brother, Steve Hill, Hull. Little-Ward Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth King
Mrs. Ruth Jane King, age 88, of 5841 Maysville Rd., Commerce,
Ga., died Saturday, April 22, 2000. Mrs. King was a native of Towns
County, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Dave and Julia Elizabeth
Clark Underwood. She was retired from Blue Bell Company, a member of
Wilson United Methodist Church and attended Unity Christian Church. She
was the wife of the late Fred P. King and was preceded in death by two
sons, Frank King and Robert King.
Survivors include a sister, Dorie Smith, Commerce; a granddaughter, Janie
Boyd, Bonaire; daughter-in-law, Mary Sue King, Bonaire; sister-in-law,
Ruth Underwood, Thomasville, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Tonya
Boyd, Judd Holland and Jesi Holland, all of Bonaire. Funeral services will
be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the
Revs. Dennis Harris and Dennis Short officiating. Interment in Wilson
United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the
funeral home Monday night from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may
be made to United Hospice, 700 S. Enota St., Gainesville, GA 30501, or
Unity Christian Church, 70 Unity Church Road, Maysville, GA 30558.

Maybelle Smith
Maybelle Baugh Smith, 82, of 121 Hogan St., died Sunday, Jan.
23, 2000. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the
late Andrew and Cynthia Cagle Baugh, and was the widow of Fred Oliver
Smith. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce.
Burial will be in Grove Level Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine Brake, Maysville; three sons, Hoyt
Eugene Smith, Atlanta, Calvin Smith, Homer, and Randy Smith, Liberty,
S.C.; a sister, Imogene Wilson, Gillsville; a brother, Julius Baugh,
Maysville; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family is at
the residence of Geraldine Brake and will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
today at the funeral home.

Willie Hooper
Mrs. Willie Emmett Hooper, 81, died Saturday, January 8, 2000,
at BJC Medical Center, Commerce. Mrs. Hooper was born August 27, 1918, in
Banks County. She was a daughter of the late Will Hope and Pearl Lewallen
Emmett. Mrs. Hooper was a retired seamstress. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Glenn Hooper. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 9,
in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Henry Webb
officiating. Burial was in the Silver Shoals Baptist Church cemetery,
Homer.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Ann Davis, Maysville, and Nadine
Wardenga, Cleveland; two sisters, Mary Barnes and Doris McDonald, both of
Commerce; and two grandchildren. Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
