Gene Kent
Eugene Talmadge Kent, 73, of Georgia Highway 82 Spur, died Tuesday, Aug.
31, 2004, at his residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3 at
Maysville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Owenby Kent; four daughters, Gail Decker,
Jefferson, Lynn Cushing, Woodstock, Tracy Brooks, Maysville, and Ashley
Hall, Commerce; six sisters, Mary Lou Lawson and Jimmie Wortham, both of
Lawrenceville, Grace Ivey, Jefferson, Linda Heaton, Bethlehem, Tina
Gordon, Macon, and Dot Adams, Florida; six grandchildren; and a
great-grandchild. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, has charge of
arrangements.

Betty Daly
Betty Jean Gau Daly, 71, died Friday, August 13, 2004 at the Scenic View
Nursing Home. She was born May 20, 1933 in Dubque County, Iowa. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Clarence C. and Geneva Herkes Gau, her
husband, John F. Daly, Sr., and a daughter, Judi Ann Daly. She was a store
manager at Oneida.
Survivors include a son, John F. Daly Jr., Marietta; two daughters, Doric
Andrews, Lawrenceville, and Lori Toney, Maysville; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 16, 2004 at the Chapel of
Little-Ward Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sunrise Cemetery,
Maysville. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of the
arrangements.

Martha Lewis
Martha Louise Boswell Lewis, 51, of 182 Clay Street, died Sunday, August
8, 2004, at her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Boswell was born July
27, 1953, a daughter of Ola Mae Carroll Boswell and the late J. Perino
Boswell. She was employed by Baker & Taylor Books, Commerce. Services will
be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10 from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home,
Commerce, with the Revs. Bill Manus, Dwayne Owensby and Jeff Clark
officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville.
Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband, Jerry Lee Lewis,
Maysville; a daughter, Nicole Lewis, Maysville; a son, Joshua Lewis,
Maysville; four brothers, John, Otis, and Norman Boswell, all of
Maysville, and Glynn "Tootsie" Boswell, Commerce; a sister, Joyce Wilson,
Alto; and two grandchildren, Gavin Brown and Chloe Poole, Maysville.
Frances Stancil
Mrs. Frances Langford Stancil, 90, of Red Oak Drive, died Monday, February
2, 2004, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, after an
extended illness. Mrs. Stancil was born November 2, 1913, in Jackson
County, a daughter of the late J.L. and Della Irene Jarrett Langford. She
was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Commerce. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7,
at the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with the Rev. David Bowen
officiating.
Mrs. Stancil is survived by her husband, Hoke S. Stancil, Maysville; one
son, David K. Stancil, Lake Forest, Calif.; one daughter, Melody A.
Stancil, M.D., Maysville; one sister, Wilda Langford Wood, Commerce; and
three grandsons, Clinton F. Stancil, Charlotte, N.C., and Matthew T.
Stancil and Ryan D. Stancil, both of Lake Forest, Calif. The family asks
that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the Commerce First
United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 755, Commerce, GA 30529.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Little-Ward
Funeral Home, Commerce. Little-Ward Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.

Sonny Wiley
Jessie Sonny Wiley, 60, of Park Street, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at
B-J-C Medical Center, Commerce. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ivie
Funeral Home, Commerce. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery. Survivors
include a daughter, Eva Kitchens, Maysville; a son, Doug Wiley, Commerce;
three sisters, Mary Ruth Bowden and Willie Wilson, both of Commerce, and
Eva Lou Roberts, Maysville; a brother, Michael Wiley, Commerce; and two
grandchildren.

Grace Doss, 82, of Sims Street, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at St. Mary's
Hospital, Athens. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Maysville
Baptist Church. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery. Survivors include a
daughter, Ruth House, Maysville; three sons, Charles Doss, Royston, Randy
Doss, Gainesville, and Larry Doss, Jefferson; a sister, Clora Allen,
Athens; a brother, Douglas Owensby, Athens; 12 grandchildren; 24
great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Ivie Funeral Home,
Commerce, has charge of arrangements.

Joe Lyle
Joseph Clark Lyle, 96, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at B-J-C Medical
Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Maysville Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter,
Jacquelyn Rylee, Maysville; and a sister, Charlotte Crumley, Athens.

Ralph E. Cash, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Emory University
Hospital, Atlanta. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Ivie Funeral Home,
Commerce. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery. Survivors include his wife,
Faye Cash; two daughters, Gail Ussery, Maysville, and Debbie Prickett,
Commerce; a son, Stanley Cash, Maysville; a brother, Tye Cash,
Gainesville; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
