Sacille Jarrett
Sacile Doris Sailers Jarrett, 86, of Maysville, died Saturday, August 13, 2005, at the Bell-Minor Home. She was born on March 13, 1919, and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Wilma Garrison Sailers. She was a native of Jackson County, was a retired postal clerk from the Maysville Post Office, and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mrs. Jarrett was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard and Horace Sailers. Survivors include her husband, Marion F. Jarrett, Maysville; son, Randall F. Jarrett, Minneapolis, Minn.; two daughters, Catherine Goodsell, Gillsville, and Yvonne Hughes, Lawrenceville; five brothers, Sandy Sailers, Sharpsburg, Hiram Sailers, Ralph Sailors and Larry Sailors, all of Maysville, Frank Sailers, Baldwin; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 16, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Revs. Verlin Reece and Brad Wilson officiating. Burial was in Sunny Rise Cemetery, Maysville. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 190 Mt. Olive Church Rd., Commerce, Ga. 30529. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Bob Miller
John R. “Bob” Miller, 78, of Eatonton, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, surrounded by his family following an extended illness. Born March 1, 1927, he was the son of John and Estelle (Willie) Miller of Maysville. He graduated from Maysville High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Berry College in Rome and a Master of Education degree from the University of Georgia. He was employed for a number of years by Gold Kist and Farmers Mutual Exchange in Madison and Eatonton. He was the first Vocational Supervisor for Putnam County Board of Education at Putnam County High School for one year, retiring in 1990. Mr. Miller was an active member of First Baptist Church of Eatonton, serving as a deacon, church treasurer, and Church Secretary for many years. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy during World War II. His greatest joy was his family, according to loved ones.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joanne Wingfield Miller; four children, Steven Miller, Grayson, Marianne Clack and Robert Miller, both of Eatonton, Susan Roper, Monticello; 18 grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Frances Wingfield, Martinez. Memorial services were held Monday, March 14, at the First Baptist Church of Eatonton. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Eatonton, Elevator Fund, 115 N. Madison Ave., Eatonton, Ga. 31024. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel of Eatonton was in charge of arrangements.

Milva Cook
Milva Tennant Cook, 92, of Otto, N.C., died Saturday, February 19, 2005, at Ports Bridge Hospice. Born October 16, 1912, in Clarendon County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late James Ezra and Mary Franklin Thigpen Tennant. She was a retired registered nurse and was Baptist. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph Cook.

Survivors include a son, Jim Cook, Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Betty Wilkerson, Atlanta; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Tuesday, February 22, at the Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville, with the Rev. Brian Stowe officiating. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Julius Baugh
Julius Baugh, 80, of Alexander City, Ala., formerly of Maysville, died Sunday, February 13, 2005, in Alexander City following an extended illness.

Survivors include a son, Andy Baugh, Alexander City, Ala.; daughter, Linda Boswell, Maysville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday, February 16, at the Jackson Memorial Park with the Rev. Ralph Smith officiating.. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Wilma Cochran
Wilma Patrick Cochran, 65, of Maysville, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at BJC Medical Center, following a sudden illness. She was the daughter of the late J.W. and Willie Mae Payne Patrick. She was a housewife and a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. Mrs. Cochran was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Cochran.

Survivors include her husband, Wilmer (Buck) Cochran, Maysville; a son, Lamar Cochran, Maysville; a daughter, Barbara Freeman, Nicholson; brothers, Billy Patrick, Alford Patrick, Robert Patrick, Roy Patrick, Waymon Patrick, David Patrick, Edward Patrick and Roger Patrick; sisters, Johnnie Sue Hill and Annie Ray Cartledge; grandchildren, Courtney Kidd and Chase Smallwood; a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Kidd; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home Saturday, February 12, with the Revs. Troy Herbert and Eddie Gordon officiating. Burial was in the Grove Level Baptist Church Cemetery. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

'Nell’ Mintz
Alice Lounelle “Nell” Mintz, 95, of Maysville, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at the Oconee Medical Center, following a brief illness. She was born March 23, 1909, in Banks County, and was the daughter of the late Samuel Washington and Ida Lou Merck Ensley. She was a homemaker, a member of Grove Level Baptist Church, having joined the church in 1923, and was the oldest member of the church, and was a member of the Banks County Chapter of the AARP. Mrs. Mintz was preceded in death by her husband, Howard M. Mintz, sisters, Annie Grace Ensley, Julia Addis Ensley and Ruby Pauline Purcell, brothers, Robert Ford Ensley, James Leatus Ensley and Glen Curtis Ensley, and a great-granddaughter, Donna Marie Glass.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Floy Evelyn and Arthur Glore, Milledgeville, and Avis Maxine and Charles R. (Chuck) Jones, Maysville; a sister, Adelle Mize, Margate, Fla.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 10, at 2 p.m. at the Grove Level Baptist Church with the Revs. Jeff Appling and Kelly Woodall officiating. Burial will be in the Anderson-Mintz family cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1:30 until the funeral hour. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grove Level Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Wednesday, February 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
