 Elzie Hudson was born 11 Jan 1827 and died 27 Apr 1905.  He is buried at Holly Springs UMC with his wife.  His wife is listed as Sarah J. Wood 1850-1926.  His obit lists the name of his wife as the former Miss Sally Martin.  I know that Sally is often a nickname for Sarah, but what is the explanation for the different names of Wood vs. Martin?  Was he actually married twice?  The Sarah Wood was 23 years his junior.  Perhaps he married the Martin first?

Here is Elzie's obit:
1905-0518 JH: In Memory of E. Hutson. Mr. E. Hutson was born January 11, 1827 and departed this life April 27, 1905. Age, 78 years, 3 months and 16 days. His remains were laid to rest in Holly Springs Cemetery, Rev. C. A. Strickland and Lowe conducting the service. Mr. Hutson married Miss Sally Martin, of this county, 36 years ago, and raised a family of seven children, to be nearly grown, all of whom are bereaved on account of the loss of their father. He joined the M. E. Church, South at 22 years of age and lived a consecrated Christian life for 56 years ever letting his light shine before the world proving the reality of what he professed. Uncle Elzie, as he was commonly called, moved to this county 25 years ago and lived in the same community for that length of time, making, we believe, as few mistakes and enemies as any man we ever known for the same period of time.
