1922-0323 JH: Dr. William G. Sharp, prominent dentist of Maysville, committed suicide Friday by cutting his throat. He arose early and left his residence and his wife supposed he had gone to his office. Not returning for breakfast, his wife sent to his office and learned that he had not arrived. Search was instituted immediately and his body was found in a chicken house on his lot, with his throat cut and a knife lying by his side. It is reported he left a note, sealed and addressed to his brothers. But its contents have not been made public. No cause is known for his act.
He is survived by his wife, who was Miss McCalla, of Atlanta; by three brothers, Dr. L. J., Messrs. K. N. and B. B. Sharp, of Commerce; and by two sisters, Miss Mary Sharp and Mrs. Cash of Athens. His body was interred in the cemetery at Decatur on Sunday afternoon.

Webmaster's note: Debate surrounds how he died.  Some say it was not suicide but, in fact, murder that was covered up.
