World War I
   We desire to devote a few words and lines of tribute to the boys out of the homes of Maysville who rendered valiant service to their country in the great World War, most of them spending months in active service overseas and nearly all of them were volunteers.
   Out of so long a list, numbering 48, serving in both army and navy and so many of them being in active service at the front, we feel it fitting to here mention the fact that only one of them was lost.  The noble boy and brave volunteer who gave his life for the cause of freedom and world democracy was First Lieutenant Henry T. Gillespie, who was killed in action during the Argonne Forest battle.  The following is a list of boys who served in the army and navy:

Maysville Honor Roll
