Otis Westmoreland
Otis Clyde Westmoreland, 89, of Maysville, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at Hill Haven Nursing Home, following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Edmund Clyde and Ida Black Westmoreland and was preceded in death by his wife, Aldah Wilson Westmoreland. Survivors include a daughter, Marianne Wilson, Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, David Keith Wilson and Amanda Lauren Wilson; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Wilson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, at 2 p.m., at Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour of 2 p.m. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Hubbard
Larry Hubbard, 64, of Maysville, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Bennie and Katie Mae Ward Hubbard. He was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and was employed as a styrofoam molder. Survivors include his wife, Janice Faulkner Hubbard, Maysville; a son, Tim Hubbard, Maysville; daughter, Kim Mabry, Homer; brother, Curtis Hubbard, Oakwood; and grandchildren, Cade Hubbard, Emmett Mabry and Camden Mabry. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 19, at 11 a.m. at the Homer United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jim McLendon and Mike Faulkner officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.

Gene Cochran
Eugene Thomas "Cowboy" Cochran, 49, of Jefferson, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at his residence. Born in Jackson County, he was the son of Peggy Ann Edwards Cochran of Jefferson and the late Thomas Cochran. He was a horse farmer and was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, David Nylander. Survivors include sisters and brothers-in-law, Jan and Ricky Owensby and Cheryl Nylander, all of Commerce, Teresa and Dennis Minish, Belmar, N.J.; special friend, Tennea Kelly, Dahlonega; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 18, at 2 p.m., at Maysville Baptist Church with the Revs. Brian Stowe and Rodney Wilbanks officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.

Sue Mealor
Annie Sue Mealor, 74, Maysville, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville following a brief illness. Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Evans and Pratt Burke Mealor. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Bishop. Miss Mealor was retired from the University of Georgia as an administrative assistant and also from the City of Maysville where she served as librarian. Survivors include two brothers, the Rev. Jesse Mealor, Jefferson, and Billy Mealor, Lula; two sisters, Evelyn Sorrow and Millie Vaughn, both of Commerce; 11 nieces and nephews; 15 great nieces and nephews and a special friend Smith Pounds. The funeral service was Monday, Sept. 15, at Maysville Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse Mealor, the Rev. Joel Sorrow, the Rev. Karl Mealor, the Rev. Michael Brown and Dr. Brian Stowe officiating. Burial was in the Midway Cemetery. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of the arrangements.

Donald Crisler
Donald Crisler, 81, of Alpharetta, died away Monday, September 1, 2008, at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, following an extended illness.  Born in Maysville on May 9, 1927, he was the son of the late Robert Garr and Thara Cornelia Richey Crisler. He served in the Army during World War II, in Bremen Germany. He was a member of New Light Baptist Church in Cumming for about 15 years. Mr. Crisler was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Horton Crisler; a son Keith Crisler; brothers and sisters; J. D. Crisler, Helen Little, Robert Crisler, Bernice Parker, Sue Jacques, Martha Crisler, Sadie Turner, Harold Crisler, John Crisler and Faye Jones. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Danny Silvers and Debbie Gilleland; grandchildren, Derin and Drew Silvers, Alpharetta, Caleb and Hannah Gilleland, Cumming; brother, Jack and Junan Crisler, Athens; and many other family and friends.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, at 2:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ricky Waters, Tim Biddy and Johnny Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 until 9 pm.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Light Baptist Church Youth Group, c/o Danny Silvers, 6946 Wills Road, Cumming, GA 30040.  Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.

Jeffery T. Lewis, 46, of Maysville, died Monday, April 21, 2008. Born in Clarke County, he was the son of Betty Crane Lewis of Commerce and the late Telvie (sic, Telvia) Lewis. Survivors in addition to his mother, include a sister, Lisa Duncan, Commerce. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 23, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Ron Cochran
Ronald Cochran Ronald Cecil Cochran, Jr., 29, of Commerce, died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Crawford W. Long Hospital. He was born in Clarke County, the son of Debra Payne Cochran, of Maysville and the late Ronald C. Cochran, Sr. He was employed by Seydel-Woolley. Survivors in addition to his mother, include sisters, Christy Leftwich, Commerce, and Tammy Gallman, Maysville; and a grandmother, Juanita Payne, Commerce. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, at the First Baptist Church of Commerce with the Rev. Wade Lott officiating. Burial was in the Sunrise Cemetery. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Andrew Strickland
Andrew Strickland, 81, of Maysville, died Saturday, January 5, 2008. He was the son of the late O.G. “Bud” and Lula Mae Saxon Strickland. He owned and operated Strickland's BBQ in Commerce for 34 years. He served as a councilman for the City of Maysville for over 33 years and was a member of the Banks County Board of Health for many years. He was a member of Maysville Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Gowder Strickland, Maysville; a son and daughter-in-law, Trent and Jo Ann Thomas Strickland, Maysville; grandsons and spouse, Field and Jade Klugh Strickland, and Drew Strickland; sister, Mary Sears, Commerce. Funeral services were held Monday, January 7, at the Maysville Baptist Church with Dr. Bryan Stowe officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Maysville Baptist Church Building Fund. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Gilmer Glenn
Gilmer Franklin Glenn, 69, of Maysville, died Friday, January 4, 2008. Born on November 5, 1938, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late W.R. Glenn Jr. and Frances Wilkes Glenn. He was retired from the First Commerce Bank and was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church. Mr. Glenn was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife, Barbara O’Kelley Glenn, Maysville; sons, Jeff Glenn, Villa Rica, Darren Glenn, Jefferson, and Sid Glenn, Maysville; a sister, Lori Ethridge, Jefferson; brothers, Danny R. Glenn, Jefferson, and R. Garry Glenn, Oakwood; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday, January 7, at the Bethany United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dean Bryant, Joe Hardy, and Truman Humphries officiating. Pallbearers were Hunter Glenn, Taylor Glenn, Brandon Glenn, Kason Glenn, Toby Glenn, and Morgan Glenn. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amanda House, P.O. Box 447, Nicholson, Ga. 30565. Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.
