Otis Parson
George Otis Parson, 65, died Thursday, December 16,
2010, at his residence. Born in Banks County on March 23, 1946, he was the
son of the late Bynum and Ora Dean Emmett Parson.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hutchins Parson, Maysville; daughters,
Kimberly Lewallen, Commerce, and Christa Poe, Maysville; brothers, Dairl
Parson and Steve Parson, both of Maysville, Waymon Parson and Sam Parson,
both of Commerce; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held
Sunday, December 19, from the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Maysville with
the Revs. Swayne Carlan and Luke Parson officiating. Burial was in the
Grove Level Cemetery. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of
arrangements.

Elizabeth Shepherd
Elizabeth Shepherd of Atlanta died at home Thursday,
October 18, 2010, at the age of 97. She was born in Maysville to John and
Lizzie Shepherd. She graduated from the University of Georgia. She taught
school and later worked for the Federal government. After graduating from
Atlanta Law School in 1949, she worked as an attorney for the Federal
National Mortgage Association until her retirement. Mrs. Shepherd was
preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Rosalind Shepherd.
She is survived by her brother, John Shepherd, of Salem, Ore.; and her two
nieces and two nephews. She was buried in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville, GA
at a private family funeral. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce was in
charge of arrangements.

Jo Ann Crumley
Jo Ann Crumley, 72, of Gillsville Road, Maysville,
died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mrs.
Crumley was born in Gillsville to the late Hiram Shewbert and Fannie
Adams. Mrs. Crumley was a member of Maysville Baptist Church and was
retired from First Commerce Bank. Mrs. Crumley was preceded in death by
her husband, Bryant Crumley, and her sister, Rebecca Crocker. Mrs. Crumley
is survived by her son, Richard Crumley of Commerce, GA; daughters Leigh
Roberts of Raleigh, NC, and Stephanie Hill of Commerce, GA; brother James
Shewbert of Powder Springs, GA; grandchildren Julie Roberts, Brit Roberts,
Nathan Crumley, Joshua Crumley, Jeremiah Crumley, Cathleen Hill, and
Oliver Roberts; and great grandchild Landyn Roberts. Funeral service will
be Tuesday 11 AM from Maysville Baptist Church with Dr. Brian Stowe and
Clay Hardy officiating with interment following at Sunrise Cemetery. The
family will receive friends at Little & Ward Funeral Home, Commerce,
Monday from 2-4 PM and 6-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the Maysville Baptist Church Mission Fund or Building Fund, P.O. Box 329,
Maysville, GA 30558.
Leone Haulbrook
Mrs. Carol Leone Haulbrook, age 85, of Maysville, GA,
after a long illness was called home to be with her Lord on Monday April
19, 2010. Mrs. Haulbrook was born in Jackson County to the late, Samuel B.
and Ruchia Veal Anderson. Mrs. Haulbrook was a homemaker and a member of
the Maysville Baptist Church. In addition to her parents Mrs. Haulbrook
was preceded in death by her son; Charles Stanley Haulbrook, daughter;
Kathryn Langley, grandson; Rob Haulbrook, five sisters, and six brothers.
Mrs. Haulbrook is survived by her loving husband of 65 years; William
Charles Haulbrook of Maysville, GA, son and daughter-in-law; Larry and
Tess Haulbrook of Maysville, GA, son; Chris Haulbrook of Marietta, GA,
son-in-law; Terry Langley of Kernersville, N.C., daughter-in-law; Alice
Haulbrook of Speedwell, TN, nine grandchildren, twelve great
grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Rev. Robert Scruton
Rev. Robert H. Scruton, age 101, of Homer
Street, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at his residence. Rev. Scruton was
born in Canada and was a Baptist minister. He was a member of Faith
Baptist Church, past president of Dial-A-Prayer and was a graduate of
Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. Rev. Scruton was a veteran of the
United States Army. Rev. Scruton is survived by his wife, Juanita Wilder
Scruton of Maysville and brothers, Jim, John and Gary Scruton all of
Minneapolis, MN. Funeral services will be at 3 PM, Tuesday, April 20 at
Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Adams, Rev. Eric Shelton and Rev. Keith
Cudd officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery. The family
will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 19, from 6 to 8
pm. Little & Ward, Commerce, has charge of services.
Clarence
Parr
Clarence Parr, 69, of Maysville, died Wednesday,
March 17, 2010, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens. Born in
Jackson County, he was the son of the late William Richard and Tilda
Collins Parr.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Parr, Commerce; children, Debra Parr,
Dwayne and Cyndi Parr, and Richard and Danah Parr, all of Maysville;
sisters, Bonnie Mae Redmon, Commerce, and Hazel Echols, Maysville;
brothers, Jerry Parr and Bernice Parr, both of Maysville; 11
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 19, at 3 p.m., from the Solid
Rock Baptist Church in Maysville with the Revs. Swayne Carlan and Winfred
Bingham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family
will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, March 18, from 6 to 9
p.m. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Strickland
Hazel Gowder Strickland, 84, of Homer
Street, Maysville died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Athens Regional Medical
Center. Born in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late John C. and
Nellie W. Gowder. She was the widow of the late Andrew Strickland.
Survivors include a son, Trent (JoAnn) Strickland, of Maysville; sisters,
Sybil Stowe of Commerce and Magnolia O'Kelly of Conyers; 2 grandsons; 1
great granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 pm
from the Maysville Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Stowe officiating.
Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Park. The family will receive
friends at Ivie Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-9 pm. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Maysville Baptist
Church building fund. The body will lie in state at the church for 30
minutes prior to service.

Beth Tolbert
ATLANTA – Annie Elizabeth “Beth” Tolbert, 86,
formerly of Maysville, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Grady Memorial
Hospital in Atlanta. Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the
late William Marcus and Nettie Lay Tolbert. She was a member of the
Maysville United Methodist Church and was retired from Rich’s Department
Store. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 19, at 2 p.m., in the
chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Monty Nelson officiating.
Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the
funeral home from noon until 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be
made to your local Humane Society. Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is
in charge of arrangements.
