William Pledger Cooley was a prominent cotton broker in the Maysville area. He was born March 1, 1879, the son of John P. Cooley and Barbara Caroline Smith. He had two marriages. He first married Lillie Mae Rogers. She was born Dec. 1, 1877 and died Sept. 23, 1940. She was the daughter of J. G. Rogers and Sarah C. Highsmith.

Pledger's second wife was Margaret Jones Boone. She was born Jan. 22, 1905 and died in July of 1986. She is buried in Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville. She was the daughter of Thomas Kader Boone and Clara Adelia Mayes Boone. Margaret first married Thomas D. Dennard on April 25, 1927. He died before 1941. She then married Pledger Cooley in 1942.
Pledger Cooley died July 18, 1962 and is buried in Sunrise Cemetery in Maysville.

Obituary of Lillie Mae Rogers Cooley:
Maysville, Ga., Sept. 24—Rites for Mrs. William Pledger Cooley, 62, who died in an Athens hospital were held at the Maysville Baptist Church. The Rev. Charlie Henderson and the Rev. JW Brown officiated. Burial was in the Maysville Cemetery. Native of Hall County, she was the daughter of the late JG and Sarah C. Highsmith Rogers.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, MS Cooley, of Athens, JR Cooley, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and WL Cooley of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, JF Rogers, of Gainesville, and HG Rogers of Atlanta; four sisters, Mrs. Hugh Griffin, Mrs. Jesse Palmer, of Cleveland, Mrs. MH Skelton of Albany, and Mrs. WD Corsey, of Gainesville; and two grandchildren, Janie Lee and William Leon Cooley, of Athens

Dr. William Lester Cooley is buried in Sunrise. He was born 4/19/1911 and died 2/17/1975. His obit says that he was the son of Pledger and Lillie Mae, but obviously Margaret was his mother.

Obituary of Dr. William Lester Cooley:
Graveside services were held today (Wednesday) at 2:00 at Sunrise Cemetery for Dr. William Lester Cooley, 63, of Greensboro NC, formerly of Maysville. Dr. Cooley died Monday, Feb. 17, at Evergreen Nursing Home in Greensboro, following an extended illness. He was born in Maysville on April 19, 1911, the son of the late William P. and Lillie Mae Rogers Cooley. He was a retired doctor of veterinary medicine and a former member of the Maysville United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a brother, John Rogers Colley, of Chattanooga TN. Little-Ward Funeral Directors were in charge.
