 Matthew ELLISON was born in South Carolina on January 5, 1793. He arrived in Jackson County, Georgia, near what would become Maysville sometime probably before 1820. His first wife, Margaret MILLER, was born in Georgia, and he most likely met her after settling here. The Matthew Ellison farm is located near 855 Carson Segars Road, Maysville, and was more recently known as the John Rylee farm. The family cemetery is located on the farm about 1/4 mile through a pasture near a hill of trees.
Lillie Mae Haynes Ellison (1874-1967) is pictured in 1965 in front of her home, which still stands at the corner of Deadwyler and Gillsville Roads.  Lillie Mae was the second wife of James Monroe Ellison, grandson of Matthew Ellison.
