Plain View School presented a Christmas program at the auditorium Dec. 14. Church choirs from Center Gove, Holly Springs and Unity assisted with the music. All present enjoyed the evening’s entertainment.
Mr. and Mrs. Benny Ogletree and family of Atlanta visited Mr. and Mrs. Jim Porter and Mrs. Nell Loggins also Mr. and Mrs. Dekow Webb last weekend.
Miss Grace Langford spent last Saturday in Atlanta. On Sunday Miss Langford was the dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. George Hutchins.
Mrs. Alyne Webb of Athens spent last weekend with her mother, Mrs. J. A. Beatty.
Mr. Frank Sailers who is a student at Truett McConnell Junior College at Cleveland, spent last weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Sailers.
Mrs. Dave Jackson spent last Tuesday in Talmo visiting relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Auburn Gaines and family were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Judge Garrett.
Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Parks and family visited relatives in Maysville last weekend.
Mrs. Hugh S. Tanner and children from Jefferson visited Mrs. John Scott one day last week.
The Holly Springs and Center Grove Missionary Societies enjoyed a beautifully planned Christmas party last Tuesday evening in the church basement at Holly Springs. Miss Grace Langford was hostess.
Friends of Miss Minnie Lee Davidson wish her a speedy recovery from a recent illness.
Miss Evelyn Beatty entertained the Young People’s Class of Unity Christian Church at her home last Wednesday evening. The living and dining rooms were beautifully decorated with glittering magnolia leaves, pine, cedar, candles, and poinsettias. Following the business session, a Christmas program was presented. During the social hour Christmas carols were sung, delicious refreshments served and the gracious tree awaiting with its splendor called forth someone to give its joy of gifts. Twenty guests enjoyed the Yuletide occasion.

The Maysville P.T.A. met in the school lunchroom Dec. 1, 1955, at 7 o’clock.
The devotional was given by Mrs. John White, who read the Christmas story. The
meeting was then turned over to the president, J. M. Jarrett. The minutes were
read and approved. Mrs. Clinton Gailey gave the treasurer’s report. The room
count was won by the 5th and 11th grades. The program was
turned over to Mr. Purcell, who introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Frary Elrod.
He showed us some film of the Early American Indians. He told us some of the
old legends of the old Indians: Hiawassee, Nacoochee Valley, Yonah Mountain, and
what is now known as “Lover’s Leap” at Tallulah Falls. He also showed us some
film he made when he and his family were on vacation in Mexico. The program was
enjoyed by everyone.
