Maysville Fish House gets new owner, new look
A local landmark, The Maysville Fish House, has been purchased by Maysville resident Scott Holcomb, and he has big plans for the place.  His plans are tentative at the moment but he hopes to open for breakfast the week of May 21.  The following week he plans to open at lunch.  In the very near future he will be open nightly, Wednesday through Saturday.
The breakfast will be about the same with former cook Mrs. (Allene) Merck still on hand to make those famous biscuits.  Breakfast hours will be 5 AM until 10:30 AM.  Lunch will be a buffet and salad bar, much requested by the locals.  Lunch will be served from 11 AM to 2 PM.
When (Holcomb) begins to open nights he hopes to have a country buffet on Wednesdays and Thursdays and serve a fish buffet on Friday and Saturday nights.  “After all, this IS the Fish House,” he said.
Mr. Holcomb said he has always wanted to own a restaurant and when this opportunity became available, he seized it.  He does plan to keep the same name or similar.
Currently the remodeling includes gutting the entire restaurant down to the bare walls and floor.  The ceiling will also get a color change of paint.
He also has future plans for the facility.  “Soon I hope to have an ice cream parlor open in the foyer,” Holcomb said.  Anyone interested in working in the restaurant may stop by The Fish House at 8 Homer Street most any evening for an application.
