Maysville Community Club To Meet

   The Maysville Community Improvement Club will hold it's regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 20th.
Among the items to be discussed will be the upcoming
Autumn Leaf Festival. Anyone wishing to help in any way with the festival is welcome to attend the meeting.  It will be at the Maysville Library at 7:30 PM.

Another Town Meeting Coming Up
   If you missed the last town meeting you have another chance on Thursday, August 27th. It is scheduled to be held in the Maysville Elementary Cafeteria.
   "The purpose of the meeting is  to allow citizens of the community to speak directly with city officials, give them a chance to ask questions or voice their opinions on anything involving the community, "said organizer Catherine Daniel. She also said that any unsolved questions from the last meeting could be redressed.
   Other than city officials, also scheduled to be on hand for questions will the School Principal, Pat Miller, Librarian Sue Mealor, representatives from the
police department and the Maysville Community Club.
   The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 PM.

A COLLECTIVE THOUGHT
  
President George W. Bush declared Friday, Sept.14th a day of prayer and remembrance for the lives lost in the terrorist attack and for their families and loved ones.  Maysville Elementary School, along with most every school across the nation, observed a moment of silence.

Park Plan Unveiled To Beautification Committee
   Members of the Beautification Committee were shown the new park plan by UGA student Hutch Garmany at a meeting at the library last week.
   The plan was created to "draw people into the area," Garmany said.  It includes a playground area, picnic area, and outdoor mall and market with a memorial theme.
   The plan shows a central fountain, one long path through the center, the removal of the parking area and replacing of Regions Bank with an outdoor market.
    The plan also calls for the removal of  two other downtown businesses and replacing them with courtyards.
   "This will create a more pedestrian friendly set of streets and retain the old southern town atmosphere," he said.

Maysville Fire Board Meeting  Held This Month
   The Maysville District Fire Board meeting is scheduled to be on  Monday, September 24th at 7 PM. It will be held in the conference room of the Maysville Fire Department and is open to the public.
   However, to speak at the meeting you must get on the agenda by calling Board Secretary, Hubert Blalock, at 652-2477.
